- How is the break-even point calculated?
- Break-even units = fixed costs ÷ (price per unit − variable cost per unit). The denominator is the contribution margin each unit adds toward covering fixed costs.
- What is the difference between fixed and variable costs?
- Fixed costs (rent, salaries) stay the same regardless of output; variable costs (materials, shipping) rise with each unit sold.
