About Resume Generator
The Resume Generator is a form-based builder that turns structured details about your career into a clean, single-column A4 PDF. You fill in contact fields (full name, headline, email, phone, location, website), a short professional summary, one or more work-experience entries, one or more education entries, and a comma-separated list of skills. Each experience block has a role, company, period, and a Highlights box where you write one accomplishment per line; each line becomes a separate bullet in the PDF. When you click Generate PDF, the document is laid out and built on the spot, and a Download PDF link appears.
The PDF is generated entirely in the browser using pdf-lib, with no AI and no server-side rendering. It produces a deliberately plain, single-column layout in A4 portrait with standard fonts and no columns, graphics, or icons. That austerity is intentional: applicant-tracking systems parse text far more reliably from a simple single-column document than from a designer template with sidebars and text boxes, so this format is built to be machine-readable first. Long resumes are handled automatically; when content overflows a page, the layout paginates onto additional pages rather than cramming or clipping.
Use it to assemble a tracking-system-friendly resume from scratch, to maintain several tailored versions for different roles, or to convert notes about your jobs into a consistent printable document. The Add experience and Add education buttons let you build out a full history, and you can remove entries you do not need. Because generation is instant and repeatable, you can tweak a bullet, regenerate, and download a fresh PDF as many times as you like at no cost. The headline field is useful for the target job title, and the website field suits a portfolio or profile link.
It is a layout tool, not a writing assistant: you supply all the wording, and it will not invent bullet points, suggest phrasing, or proofread your text. There is only one visual style, so you cannot pick colors, fonts, or multi-column designs. If you need a heavily branded creative resume, this is not the right tool, but for most office, technical, and corporate applications the clean format is an advantage. Everything you enter stays on your device and is never uploaded.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What kind of file do I get?
- A single-column A4 portrait PDF built with pdf-lib. It uses standard fonts and a plain layout with no columns or graphics, and it automatically flows onto multiple pages when you have a long history. Click Generate PDF, then use the Download PDF link to save it as resume.pdf.
- Why is the design so plain?
- The plain single-column layout is intentional because it is the most reliable format for applicant-tracking systems to parse. Multi-column templates with sidebars, text boxes, and icons frequently get scrambled or dropped when software reads them, so a clean linear document maximizes the chance that your details are extracted correctly.
- How do I add bullet points to a job?
- In the Highlights box of an experience entry, write one accomplishment per line. Each line you enter becomes its own bullet in the finished PDF. Blank lines are ignored, so you can space things out while editing without affecting the output.
- Can I add more than one job or degree?
- Yes. Use the Add experience and Add education buttons to create as many entries as you need, and the Remove button to delete any you do not want. The PDF lists them in the order you arrange them and paginates automatically if the content runs long.
- Does it write or improve my resume content?
- No. There is no AI involved. You provide every word of the summary, bullets, and skills, and the tool only handles layout and PDF generation. It does not suggest phrasing, generate achievements, or proofread, so review your text yourself before applying.
- Can I create and update multiple versions?
- Yes. Generation is instant and unlimited, so you can fill in the form, download a PDF, then change any field and click Generate again to produce an updated version. This makes it easy to maintain tailored resumes for different roles at no cost.
- Can I change the colors, fonts, or layout?
- No. The tool offers a single fixed style optimized for readability and tracking-system compatibility. There are no theme, color, or multi-column options. If you need a highly designed creative resume, you would need a dedicated design tool instead.
- Is my data uploaded anywhere?
- No. The PDF is built entirely in your browser, and everything you type plus the finished file stays on your device. There is no account, no logs, and no server processing involved.
